Michigan Football Rumors: Wolverines To Announce Home & Home Series With Texas, Pac-12 Power

First announced by Detroit sports talk radio station 97.1 The Ticket (and later confirmed by CBS Detroit), the Wolverines are set to announce two "huge" home-and-home series by the end of the week. Speculation has run rampant as to which schools are being announced - we've heard pretty much every school with a major bowl win since 2005 mentioned as possibilities.

Although we can't confirm with 100% certainty, this is what we've heard today from people we trust at Michigan and other marquee programs:

We've received strong indications that the one of the two opponents will be the University of Texas. Michigan and Texas have played just once in the history of both storied programs - the unforgettable 2005 Rose Bowl, where Texas edged by the Wolverines in a 38-37 classic that saw Vince Young and LaMarr Woodley named co-MVPs.

The other opponent is still unclear, but here's what we know:

- It's a "Pac-12 powerhouse"

- It's not Oregon

That leaves Stanford and USC as the most likely suspects...but UCLA or Cal are also distinct possibilities (though we disagree in labeling Cal a 'power'). We're still in the process of finding out more about the dates of these matchups and the second opponent, and we'll provide updates as they become available.
