OSU Commit Intrigued By Michigan, Waiting To Speak With Harbaugh
Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech four-star running back Michael Weber says that he's still solid on his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes, but his willing to listen to new Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Weber talked with 247Sports on Thursday, and said that he was going to wait to have a conversation with Harbaugh until after Saturday's U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
If Michigan can at least get the Class of 2015's #13 running back in for a visit, there's a definite chance they can get him to switch his commitment back to Michigan with Harbaugh doing the talking.
Weber initially committed to the Wolverines back on August 6th before decommitting amidst all off the swirling Brady Hoke rumors on November 22nd. He also holds offers from Alabama, Georgia, and Illinois amongst others.
Harbaugh Speaks With 2016 Commit Messiah deWeaver
Trotwood (Ohio) Madison quarterback Messiah deWeaver had his first chance to speak with Jim Harbaugh on Saturday, and the four-star Class of 2016 commit liked what he heard.
"It went good," deWeaver said, via Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports. "Cool down to earth guy."
The dynamic young quarterback said that Harbaugh reaffirmed the program's commitment to him as Michigan's signal caller of the future.
"He wants me there and they think I can be a top quarterback in the country."
247Sports ranks deWeaver as the #12 pro-style passer in the Class of 2016. He has been committed to the Wolverines since June, but has received offers from Duke, Michigan State, Penn State and Indiana since then.
DJ Durkin decision within the next 48 hours?
247Sports' Steve Lorenz indicates that, while no new news has come out in regards to Michigan's pursuit of former Jim Harbaugh protegee DJ Durkin, a decision is likely to come within "the next 48 hours or so."
Durkin stepped up from his role as Florida Gators defensive coordinator to coach the program during its 28-20 victory over the East Carolina Pirates in the Birmingham Bowl. While Greg Mattison has agreed to remain on Michigan's staff under Harbaugh, all signs point to Durkin coming in to take over as defensive coordinator and Mattison being reassigned.
Durkin's presence could have a huge impact on Michigan's recruiting efforts, with elite 2015 linebacker Roquan Smith saying that he'll take an official visit to Michigan if Durkin is hired by the program.
