The Michigan Wolverines added their second wide receiver commitment of the 2015 recruiting season on Sunday, flipping three-star Gardena (CA) Serra wideout Deontay Burnett from his previous pledge to the Washington State Cougars.
The 6-foot, 166-pound receiver may be traditionally undersized, but he has the natural speed and shiftiness in route running necessary to be successful with his limitations in stature. With that in mind, Jim Harbaugh’s staff offered him on Thursday, prompting him to immediately set up an official visit to Ann Arbor.
Burnett holds six offers from schools such as Washington State, Arizona State, Miami, and Utah, but he is now a Michigan man through and through after Sunday’s flip.
Currently ranked as the #119 wide receiver in the nation and the #1025 overall prospect in the Class of 2015, he currently holds a rating of 82 from the folks over at 247Sports.
Per sources cited by Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247, Burnett’s commitment doesn’t affect the Wolverines’ desire to four-star Ole Miss commit Van Jefferson into the fold if he decides to flip to UM on Wednesday’s National Signing Day.
