Michigan extended a scholarship offer to four-star 2017 tight end Kedrick James (Waco, TX) over the weekend, who said he was "speechless" when he got the offer:
"I was in class when my coach pulled me out to tell me there was someone on the phone I needed to talk to at Michigan," he said via 247sports. "I was shocked because I didn't really think I'd ever hear from a school like Michigan. I got on the phone with Coach, who told me that they'd like to offer me a full-ride scholarship to play for them. I literally don't think I said anything for 30 seconds because I was so speechless and surprised. It truly made my day."
Baylor has already offered James a scholarship to stay in his hometown, but he says he plans to give Michigan a long look.
"I am really hoping I can come up there for a visit either before or during the season this year," James said. "I just have to talk to my mom about it. I'd like to go up there and see the campus and meet the coaches to get an early feel for whether or not I think I could live and play there for four years. I know I'm open to anybody that is willing to offer me, and for Michigan to believe in me early means a lot."
Texas Tech is the only other offer James currently has, but in-state powers Texas, Texas A&M, and TCU shouldn't be far behind.
