Michigan football has taken its recruiting efforts to the national stage in the past month under head coach Jim Harbaugh, but the program's latest commitment shows just how attractive the retooling Wolverines are to prospects close to home.
Three-star Birmingham Brother Rice receiver Grant Perry, who played in high school with another member of the U-M 2015 class (Alex Malzone) and preferred walk-on Jack Dunaway, announced his commitment to U-M this afternoon via his personal Twitter account:
Proud to announce that I have officially committed to play football at the University of Michigan! #GoBlue #Team136 pic.twitter.com/n1tLTowH3I

Standing at six-foot, 183 pounds, Perry had been committed to Northwestern University since early December before decommitting from the Wildcats after receiving a scholarship offer from Michigan on Monday.
Perry is ranked as the #12 player in the entire state of Michigan by Rivals.com, and will likely project to be a slot receiver for the Wolverines going forward.
Michigan coaches hope that the talented young wideout's commitment is just the tip of the iceberg heading into tomorrow's National Signing Day, with all eyes locked on Washington State commit Deontay Burnett and Ole Miss commit Van Jefferson as potential flips.
