In a season full of tumult and a litany of rumors surrounding embattled head coach Brady Hoke, Michigan Wolverines linebacker Jake Ryan maintained composure and helped captain one of the most consistent defensive units in the nation.
For that, Ryan was voted first-time All-Big Ten on Monday by coaches and media within the Big Ten circle.
Ryan, who is currently a finalist for the Butkus Award (given to the nation's top linebacker), finished second in the Big Ten with 112 tackles recorded and sixth in the conference with 14 tackles for a loss.
Ryan moved to middle linebacker in his final year with the Wolverines, and ended his career sixth all-time in Michigan Wolverines with 45.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage.
The talented senior joins WR Devin Funchess as the team's two all-Big Ten players this year. Funchess was named to the conference's second team after recording 62 catches for 733 yards and four touchdowns.
