The Michigan Wolverines' rushing attack has done something that it hasn't done since back in 2012.
De'Veon Smith celebrated his 20th birthday on Saturday by carrying the ball 18 times for 121 yards, giving the Wolverines back-to-back 100-yard running games in Big Ten play for the first time in over two years.
Drake Johnson rushed the ball 16 times for 122 yards against Indiana the week prior, as Michigan continues to establish a potent rushing attack.
Denard Robinson was the last to eclipse the century mark in back-to-back Big Ten contests (Purdue and Illinois). However, Saturday was De'Veon Smith's day to take over the Ann Arbor spotlight.
"I think he ran with a purpose," Wolverines coach Brady Hoke said, via MGoBlue.com, "and the guys up front did a nice job. ... We've said it before that he's a hard guy to get down. He breaks tackles. And the play I really liked was the one where the offensive line finished with him and pushed the pile some."
"I was really pleased with that."
