Michigan football fans everywhere have been jumping for joy all week with the news of Jim Harbaugh's return to Ann Arbor, and you can count Brian Griese as one of them.
However, the former Wolverines quarterback does have a couple concerns about the hire, especially seeing that none of Harbaugh's previous coaching stints have lasted more than four years.
“I think the key is where is the mindset of Jim Harbaugh,” said Griese on Wednesday's edition of ESPN’s “Mike and Mike in the Morning,” via STLToday.com. “Is he looking at Michigan as a destination job for the next eight to 10 years and can he fulfill his legacy in college in doing it at his alma mater or is this something where it’s a steppingstone again?
“I hope, and I think after watching the press conference, it seems like Jim made this decision for the right reasons, that his heart is in it.”
The other concern Griese has lies with Harbaugh's notoriously intense personality.
“We know that he can coach between the white lines,” Griese said. “But if he can learn from those two stops at Stanford and San Francisco, where it ended — he kind of burned some bridges."
