Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh was in Detroit on Friday night taking in the Cass Tech/Renaissance basketball game, and one of the recruits who was at that game, 2016 4-star Cass Tech OL/DL Michael Onwenu, liked what he heard from the new Wolverines head coach.
"I introduced myself to Coach Harbaugh," Onwenu said, via Steve Lorenz of Wolverine247. "He said he knew who I was and that he had watched my film. He said they were working hard to finish up their 2015 class and that they'd focus on 2016 after that. He told my coaches he will be back at Cass Tech soon again."
Onwenu holds an offer from Michigan from the Brady Hoke era, but its the excitement surrounding the Harbaugh era in Ann Arbor that has rekindled his interest in the program.
"Whenever they do a junior day or something like that, I plan to be there," he said. "I'm hoping they do something like that. They have a whole new staff and I'd like to get to meet them."
Onwenu is currently ranked as the #3 prospect in the state of Michigan and the #179 overall prospect in the Class of 2016, per 247Sports. He currently holds offers from Ohio State, Miami, NC State, amongst others.
