Talk about the most secretive decision that I can remember in recent recruiting history. LB E.J. Levenberry, rated the #15 overall player in 2013 by Rivals.com, yet not ranked in the new ESPNU 150 at all, is set to announce between Michigan or FSU tomorrow at 3pm ET. Both schools coaching staffs visited him at his high school today, and we have learned a little bit of info on what took place at those meetings.
What we do know for 110% fact is that both schools pressed to get him to verbally commit on the spot today and ensure that they would be the school he announced for, and both requests were rejected. Normally, when a recruit is announcing the next day, he will tip his hand to one of the schools. Either a "sorry coach, I am going somewhere else" or "hey coach, I am going to officially commit to you guys tomorrow". This hasn't happened with Levenberry, leaving most recruitniks and insiders grasping for straws on where he will land.
I spoke to people in Ann Arbor and Tallahassee this evening to get a feel for what each coaching staff is thinking. The FSU coaches are confident that they will land E.J., even to the point of one asst. coach saying "he's ours" to a trusted local journalist that covers FSU football. The Michigan coaches, knowing they were most likely a close 2nd place coming into their visit today, left with a renewed sense of confidence towards landing Levenberry. Though he wouldn't commit to the coaches, he did give the impression that he hasn't made up his mind and is still very enamored with Michigan.
So there you have it. My prediction is he ends up a Seminole. But, we can all hope he "goes to bed a Seminole and wakes up a Wolverine."
Where do you think he will land?
