I am going to make this short and sweet. Darryl Stonum, an electrifying player and possibly Michigan's best WR going into the 2012 season, should be kicked off of the Michigan football team. I tweeted earlier that he should be given another chance, but as I think about it more and talk to more people, I have changed my tone...
Stonum, suspended for the 2011 season after multiple DUI's, was jailed for 10 days after being arrested for driving on a suspended license and also lying to his probation officer about driving.
I have had enough with this kid. This is not Michigan State. We are not a renegade program that allows players to go to jail and continuously break the law, then still be allowed to have the privilege to play for the Michigan football team.

I would have given my right arm to play football at Michigan and have the ability to score a TD on kickoff return against Notre Dame, like Stonum did in 2009. It is a privilege to play football at Michigan and the coaching staff needs to make that clear to the current players and set the tone for future recruits. 1 mistake is forgivable, 2 is debatable . . . 3 and 4 mistakes, all alcohol related, are unacceptable.
Stonum is just a kid that doesn't get it. He knew Hoke went out on a limb to keep him as a member of the Michigan team, and he broke his trust and has shamed his teammates. This is not the kind of player I want representing the program that I love. If it means sacrificing a victory or two in 2012, so be it.
We are Michigan. Players need to act like they know what that means. I wish you the best Darryl, just not as a member of the 2012 Michigan football team.
