The Michigan football program announced a huge addition to its secondary on Monday, welcoming former Stanford Cardinal cornerback Wayne Lyons to Ann Arbor via a graduate transfer.
“We are excited about the addition of Wayne Lyons as a post-graduate student and defensive back on our football team,” U-M’s secondary coach Michael Zordich said in Monday's press release. “He brings great experience and ability to our secondary and special teams units. In addition, Wayne is a super individual who will achieve great things both on the field and in his future career.”
A US Army All-American during his time at Dillard High School in Fort Lauderdale (Fl.), Lyons played 41 games for Stanford in the past three seasons (43 overall) and was on the Lott IMPACT Trophy watch list prior to the 2014 campaign. He amassed 128 tackles (66 solo), 4.5 tackles for a loss, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, and three pass breakups in his time with the Cardinal.
Lyons will enroll in Michigan's School of Social Work in pursuit of a master's degree in community organization.
