David Molk is a Michigan hero and has a fantastic story that we all can learn from. Now, Molk is well on his way to a successful career in the NFL. This is a new year and with it brings a new Michigan hero.
His name is Jordan Kovacs and he has a story of his own. I'm so excited for this Michigan Man, embodying the term in every way conceivable, and the prospect of becoming one of Michigan's senior team captains for 2012.
Kovacs' only football opportunities out of high school were preferred walk-on status at Toledo and Hillsdale. His dad was a walk-on for Bo Schembechler. Kovacs came to Michigan with absolutely no football considerations. He went to open tryouts in 2008 and was rejected from the team because of a pre-existing knee injury. He came back again, the following January, and proved his injury was behind him. The rest is history. This is the stuff legends are made of. Nobody ever handed anything to Kovacs. Everything he has done is earned. It's about time he gain the recognition he rightfully deserves.
In Ann Arbor, everybody is swooning over Zack Novak and Stu Douglass right now, and rightfully so, but Kovacs is a different breed of Michigan hero. Although Zack and Stu never expected to be stars on their team, they were at least, you know, on the team. Kovacs is just an inspiration by every meaning of the word. His actions speak louder than words, and his words speak louder than most regardless. Last year was David Molk's, Stu Douglass', and Zack Novak's year. I believe 2012 will be the year of Jordan Kovacs. He has made all of us at the University of Michigan more than proud and will without a doubt continue to inspire us for years to come. I can't imagine anyone more deserving of captain than him.
