Michigan Wolverines defensive end Taco Charlton is one of the most intriguing prospects in the 2017 NFL Draft. Some project him to be a top 10 pick, while others think he'll go at the end of the first round. In a class loaded with defensive linemen, where is Charlton most likely to end up? Here are the top three teams:
1) Miami Dolphins
There are two major needs for the Dolphins: linebacker and edge rusher. Charlton can contribute early and forms a solid three-headed attack with Cam Wake and the recently re-signed Andre Branch (who moves inside some too). Though he projects as a 4-3 defensive end, Charlton has also looked in coverage drills at the combine and at his pro day, signaling he could help as an outside linebacker as well.
2) New Orleans Saints
The Saints just need to pick a defensive player in the first round, and getting a pass rusher in a loaded class like this seems to be the move since Cam Jordan is the only proven, reliable option out there right now. Their pick will likely come down to either Derek Barnett or Charlton.
3) Indianapolis Colts
Indianapolis needs a pass rusher, putting Charlton on their draft board. However, he may be be a perfect fit for their 3-4 scheme. If he did enough in linebacker drills to prove to the Colts that he can be effective as a pass-rushing outside linebacker, he could be their pick.
