Former Michigan Wolverines tight end Jake Butt was the best tight end in college football this season and was projected to be a first round pick, but he is now recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in the Orange Bowl. As such, he is now projected to be a second or third round pick. Here are the three teams that are the most likely to draft him:
1) Denver Broncos
The Broncos don't have a true pass catching threat at TE, and having a legitimate threat over the middle would make a huge difference for either Trevor Siemian or Paxton Lynch. Taking Butt, despite his injury, would provide Denver with one. Even if he misses part (or all) of the year, Denver is good enough that they can afford to wait.
2) Los Angeles Rams
LA really needs to improve their passing attack, and that starts with upgrading their weapons. Right now, their starting tight end is either Tyler Higbee or Temarrick Hemingway, and that's a major problem. They could go with Butt in either the second or third round.
3) Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville may very well take a tight end early in the second round, and while they could take Butt then, I think this is more of a possibility if they pick a defensive player and Butt falls to the third round. The Jags need a replacement for Julius Thomas, and Butt would step right in and be a quality threat in the passing game.
