Four-star Wayne (NJ) DePaul Catholic running back Kareem Walker, currently listed as the #1 running back in the Class of 2016, is expected to make his college decision one week from today on Thursday, December 17th.
Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh made a visit to Walker's home on Tuesday, joined by running backs coach Tyrone Wheatley. In addition to those two, linebackers coach Chris Partridge also saw Walker on Tuesday as UM looked to maintain its lead for the standout halfback's pledge.
Offered by both Brady Hoke and Jim Harbaugh, Walker visted Ann Arbor in October -- causing a bit of panic in Columbus as he was an OSU commitment at the time. The worry appears justified, as Walker decommitted and focused on an entirely new group of favorites, including Michigan who appears to be way out in the lead for his signature.
Other schools currently in the running are Alabama, Auburn and Florida State. Arizona State is also hanging out on the fringes, and they'll be able to close with a massive push with Walker set to visit them this weekend.
Ranked 39th overall in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, Walker has been holding steady as the top running back in the Class of 2016. Measuring in at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds, Walker's combination of natural power, horizontal shiftiness and speed even has NFL scouts taking notice.
