As a student at Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine, Nicole Janowicz Eastman says she felt "humiliated" to be sexually harassed by the college's dean, Dr. William Strampel.
Just as uncomfortable, she says: that Strampel's behavior seemed to be an open secret that went unaddressed for years.
"If you're told that everybody knows and nobody has done anything, and than he does something to you in front of other faculty members, who could you tell?" said Eastman, a 2010 graduate of the osteopathic program.
That changed with the Larry Nassar sex-abuse scandal, when Eastman and three othere came forward with allegations of sexual harassment by Strampel, Nassar's former boss.
