Detroit — Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. The traditionalist in me thinks the addition of USC and UCLA to the Big Ten, likely launching another crazy conference-hopping carousel, is awful. The end of college football as we know it. The destruction of time-honored rivalries. The diminishing of mid-major programs. The ugly glut of artery-clogging TV money.
But then I pondered the idea of USC playing in an Ann Arbor blizzard, with that white horse getting its tail frozen off, and I hated myself for being intrigued. And then I reminded myself what’s happening here.
College football isn’t merely evolving.
