PARADISE ISLAND NASSAU, Bahamas – In the end, it all fell apart in a rush of turnovers and missed shots and an inability to get a stop. Or should I say, the inability to get consecutive stops.
Because when you’re playing from behind, as Michigan State was for most of the second half Thursday in its tournament semifinal against Baylor at the Battle 4 Atlantis, you can’t cut the lead if the other team keeps scoring.
And Baylor kept scoring. And Michigan State kept missing. And, eventually, stopped believing. And when that happens, teams stop competing, too.
