Why Michigan State football seems reluctant to lean more on its strength — passing the ball

EAST LANSING – Frustration could be detected in Robert Griffin III’s voice. As Michigan State football approached the end zone in the fourth quarter of its 39-28 loss at Washington, the ABC analyst and former Heisman trophy winner lamented what could have been for the Spartan’s offense.

“Right now on this drive, you’re seeing exactly what Michigan State should have been doing the entire game," he said on the telecast. "Open it up. Allow Payton Thorne to use his legs when he has to and throw the ball around the field.”
