EAST LANSING — Mark Dantonio chose his words carefully. His plan, his intentions are to be Michigan State’s football coach next season.

He left open the possibility that it might not happen.

Athletic director Bill Beekman told the Lansing State Journal less than two weeks ago that the decision to return for a 14th season would be up to Dantonio.
