Michigan State baseball made some history Saturday.
Of course, it also lost the game.
“Would trade it for a W,” Spartans coach Jake Boss said.
Michigan State turned a triple play in the second inning of Saturday’s 5-2 loss at Nebraska. It was the Spartans’ first triple play since the 2012 NCAA Tournament, and the first triple play in the Big Ten since Penn State in 2014.
On the season, it was the first triple play in the conference, and the 11th in the NCAA.
The triple play came in the bottom of the second inning, after Nebraska had loaded the bases with nobody out — a serious threat against pitcher Jake Lowery.
