Police submitted arrest warrant requests Thursday afternoon to the Ingham Country Prosecutor's Office following a sexual assault investigation involving a Michigan State football player.
A spokesman for the Meridian Township Police Department said his office submitted a report about the alleged assault that occurred on April 9 and won't be able to comment further until the prosecutor's offices decides whether or not to pursue criminal charges.
The accused player has not yet been identified, but Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio issued a statement last week saying the team was aware of the investigation and the player in question has been suspended.
