Senior guard Denzel Valentine started the preseason with a big personal milestone, recording the first triple-double of his polished NCAA career. Valentine finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists en route to MSU’s 94-53 victory over Northern Michigan. It looked rough at first, but the Spartans outscored the Wildcats 56-20 during the second half.
Although the triple-double from Valentine might not count in the official record books, it will continue to be one of the bright spots in his career.
“Even though it doesn’t count, in the back of my mind it really does,” Valentine said.
