Detroit – Tom Izzo already had a good start to Michigan State’s 2016 basketball recruiting class, but on Friday he landed another blue-chipper when guard Cassius Winston of U-D Jesuit committed to play for the Spartans.
The 6-foot-1 point guard rated the No. 29 player in the nation by 247sports.com, joined five-star shooting guard Josh Langford of Madison, Ala., and four-star power forward Nick Ward of Gahanna, Ohio as part of the 2016 class.
Winston selected Michigan State after narrowing his options to MSU, Stanford and Pittsburgh. He is coming off leading U-D to back-to-back appearances in the state semifinals and averaged 24.
