Last summer, Michigan State had Savannah (Georgia) Calvary Day quarterback Jake Merklinger on campus for a visit and camp.
It was on that trip that the Spartans offered the 6-foot-3, 190-pound Merklinger, who was only a rising sophomore at the time.
Cincinnati offered the day after, but the true rush would not come until the spring following his sophomore season. Merklinger now has 24 offers and is a top-100 prospect in the 2024 class.
