EAST LANSING The rankings that matter finally debut Tuesday, but Michigan State now stands at No. 6 in both the Associated Press and Amway Coaches polls.
The Spartans (8-0, 4-0 Big Ten) dropped a spot in today's coaches poll, with Clemson jumping MSU for the No. 5 spot. MSU stayed in the same spot in the AP poll.
The College Football Playoff rankings debut at 7 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN, and MSU likely will land somewhere in the 4-7 range initially. The final CFP rankings, released Dec. 6, will determine the four teams that will participate in the four-team playoff.
