It’s about time. Michigan State Basketball coach Tom Izzo finally got the recognition he deserved by getting inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame on Monday. The other notable inductees include Sheryl Swoopes, Shaquille O’Neal, Yao Ming and Allen Iverson.
If anyone deserves this type of recognition, it’s Izzo. He’s led Michigan State to seven Final Fours and a national title in his 21-year career.
Arguably, no one has done more with less talent over their career than Izzo and no one ever will. He’s changing his recruiting approach a bit as well, evidenced by his 2016 class which is loaded with two five stars (Miles Bridges, Josh Langford) and two four-stars (Cassius Winston, Nick Ward) with the possibility of adding Josh Jackson, the nation’s top prospect.
