This university system's decision might squash college football in 2020

The college football season is set to start about four months from now. But, even if students are on campus this fall, one power five program still may not take the field. USA TODAY

The folks who run the California State University system announced their campuses will be largely student-free this fall. That means hundreds of thousands of students will be learning from their homes because of the coronavirus pandemic.

If there aren’t students, there aren’t sports. And if there aren’t sports, there isn’t football.

And if there isn’t college football in the most populous state in the country, how will it exist anywhere else this fall?
