This state has the most March Madness championships

If Michigan State can find its way to a NCAA basketball championship this year, it'll give the state another notch on its championship belt.

Michigan has three Division I men's basketball crowns. The Spartans have two championships, 1979 and 2000, and U-M was victorious in 1989.

However, the Great Lakes State still has a long way to go to catch up with powerhouses California, North Carolina and Kentucky.

California leads the list for most championships by state with 15, with UCLA holding 11. North Carolina is second with 13 and Kentucky third with 11.
