Michigan State football has gone through its fair share of rough patches. Through the John L. Smith era and Bobby Williams catastrophe, the Spartans have triumphed with the hire of head coach Mark Dantonio in 2007.

Since the addition of Dantonio to the program, the Spartans have seen more success in a nine-year span than they have in the previous 40 years.
Although Michigan State hasn’t won a national title since the 1960s, Dantonio has brought this program into the national picture and has already helped the Spartans win their first Rose Bowl since 1987.
