That's cold: MSU fades late in loss to Maryland

College Park, Md. – Michigan State went on the road to close the regular season on Saturday and it suffered what might have been its most crushing defeat yet.

Melo Trimble hit a 3-pointer with 1.1 seconds to play to give Maryland a 63-60 victory in front of 17,950 at the Xfinity Center.

With the game tied at 60, the Spartans had four chances to take the lead but missed two open 3-pointers, a short jump-hook by Nick Ward and turned the ball over on the last possession. It was the end of a tumultuous season for Michigan State (18-13, 10-8 Big Ten) which can now finish no better than a five seed for the conference tournament and remains firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble.
