EAST LANSING - Brian Lewerke didn't think he was going to fall asleep on the red-eye flight back from Arizona State.
Then the Michigan State quarterback's eyes started getting heavy and he turned off a movie. Next thing Lewerke knew, he woke up somewhere over Lake Michigan. After getting back to East Lansing at about 9 a.m., he went back to sleep until the middle of the afternoon.
Michigan State's 16-13 loss at Arizona State, which kicked off at 10:50 p.m. Eastern time on Sept. 8, was on the more extreme end of travel for a Big Ten team.
