EAST LANSING - The Michigan State hockey team dropped a back-and-forth game with No. 13 Minnesota on Thursday at Munn Arena, 5-4. MSU bounced back from a 4-1 deficit to knot the game, but Minnesota’s Tyler Sheehy broke a 4-4 tie with 2:48 to go in the third period.
The game included three shorthanded goals and two goals on shots from the neutral zone.
“I guess not the way (Minnesota coach) Don (Lucia) or I would draw up a hockey game,” MSU head coach Danton Cole said.
Taro Hirose scored twice for the Spartans and freshman defenseman Tommy Miller had a career-high three assists.
