EAST LANSING - Taro Hirose’s goal with 40 seconds to play in the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and lifted the Michigan State hockey team past Bowling Green, 3-2, on Saturday night at Munn Ice Arena. The win was the first for head coach Danton Cole and evened MSU’s record at 1-1.

“It was a lot fun tonight. Obviously, the guys did an outstanding job,” said Cole. “It has been a pretty good evolution for our team. They’re going to work hard, they’re going to do some good stuff and we’re going to have to win games like that.
