UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Michigan State and Penn State played to a 2-2 tie in the second of a two-game series between the teams on Saturday at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa. The Spartans (7-6-1, 1-4-1-1 Big Ten) won the shootout, 2-1, to earn the extra point in the Big Ten standings.
MSU goaltender John Lethemon made a career-high 41 saves, while Taro Hirose and Carson Gatt scored for the Spartans.
“Regardless of where the result ended up, it was just a way better game,” MSU head coach Danton Cole said.
