• Fresh off a bye week, Michigan State (2-0) will play host to Notre Dame (2-1) in Spartan Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. in the battle for the Megaphone Trophy. The game will be televised nationally on FOX. The Spartans are 2-0 for the third consecutive year after opening the season with home wins over Bowling Green (35-10) and Western Michigan (28-14). The Fighting Irish improved to 2-1 with a 49-20 victory at Boston College last Saturday.
• Saturday’s game marks the 79th meeting between Michigan State and Notre Dame. The Irish lead the all-time series 48-29-1, including a 19-15-1 record in games played in East Lansing.
