East Lansing – Time heals all wounds, the saying goes, but often times a scar remains.
That might be the best way to describe how Michigan State looks at its last trip to Notre Dame Stadium. That came in 2013 when the Fighting Irish handed the Spartans a 17-13 defeat.
As it turned out that was the only time Michigan State lost all season, going on to win the Big Ten championship and beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl to finish ranked No. 3 in the nation. Many believed Michigan State was playing as well as any team in the country at that point, and if not for that lone loss, maybe the Spartans would have been playing in the BCS National Championship Game.
