East Lansing – It had been seven games and nearly eight weeks since Michigan State won a game when it took the field at Spartan Stadium on Saturday.
So who the opponent happened to be meant almost nothing – the Spartans were desperate to get a victory.
It turns out Rutgers was the perfect remedy for a season-long slide that has had Michigan State grasping for answers on a weekly basis. On this day, however, there were no questions as Michigan State dominated from the outset and got its first Big Ten win of the season, 49-0, in front of a surprisingly large crowd that was announced at 73,701.
