Spartans Falter in Series Finale With No. 5 North Dakota

EAST LANSING - Fifth-ranked North Dakota used four unanswered goals to erase an early deficit and defeat the Michigan State hockey team, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at Munn Ice Arena. Michael Ferrantino scored for the Spartans (4-7-2) in what was their final game before Big Ten play begins next weekend.

The Spartans held a 34-27 advantage in shots on goal for the game and took an early 1-0 lead, but it was costly mistakes and 33 saves by Cam Johnson that helped give UND (12-2-2) the win.

“I thought we played really hard,” said MSU head coach Tom Anastos.
