ST. PAUL, Minnesota -
Trailing 2-0 after the opening 20 minutes, the Spartans (10-23-4) fought back with three second-period goals – all on the power play – to take a 3-2 lead into the third period. But, OSU’s Matthew Weis tied the game 3:17 into the third, ultimately sending the game into the extra session.
Jake Hildebrand made 44 stops in his final game in goal for the Spartans, while fellow seniors Michael Ferrantino and Matt DeBlouw netted goals for MSU, along with Joe Cox.
“We were disappointed with our start yet I was proud of our recovery and I thought at that point it was anybody’s game,” said MSU head coach Tom Anastos.
