BOSTON -
“I liked how hard we played; special teams became the difference in the game. It was a tough college hockey game,” said MSU head coach Tom Anastos.
The Spartans outshot Northeastern, 14-9, in the opening period, and created several quality chances on a pair of power plays. But it was the Huskies’ final shot of the first 20 minutes that found the back of the net as Mike McMurtry scored with 1:53 to play in the opening period.
A pair of Spartan penalties 1:32 apart in the second period gave the Huskies a 5-on-3 advantage.
