Two coaches with Michigan State connections landed head gigs on Tuesday.
Brian Gregory, who spent 2016-17 as a special advisor to Tom Izzo while taking a year off from coaching, is now the head coach at South Florida.
Gregory agreed to a six-year deal, according to ESPN.
A former player at Oakland (1987-90), Gregory worked as a graduate assistant and as an assistant coach at Michigan State from 1990 to 1996, and returned for a second stint from 1999 to 2003. He went on to head-coaching tenures at Dayton and Georgia Tech.
Gregory was fired at Georgia Tech after posting a 76-86 record (27-61) in five years at the school.
