EAST LANSING - Six current Spartans took a break from their regular summer training routines to participate in NHL prospect development camps over the past couple weeks. Matt DeBlouw (Calgary Flames), Mackenzie MacEachern (St. Louis Blues) and Mason Appleton (Winnipeg Jets) trained with their respective NHL rights holders, while Jake Hildebrand (Anaheim Ducks), Michael Ferrantino (Carolina Hurricanes) and Travis Walsh (Detroit Red Wings) all received invites from other organizations to take part in their camps.
The camps, which do not affect NCAA eligibility, are intended to provide a training camp-like atmosphere.
