Malik McDowell's time with the Seattle Seahawks is over without him ever playing a single down.
The former Michigan State defensive lineman was waived by the team with the non-football injury designation on Thursday before the start of training camp. The long-anticipated move was the result of a head injury McDowell sustained in an ATV accident last July and it's unclear if he will ever play again.
A former five-star prospect from Southfield High School, McDowell headlined Michigan State's 2014 recruiting class. He made 23 starts in 36 career games with the Spartans and was a second team All-Big Ten selection as a junior in 2016 before leaving for the NFL.
