EAST LANSING -- A change at quarterback sparked Michigan State's offense early.
And a defense that's been stout all season delivered late.
The Spartans topped Purdue, 23-13, on Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium to earn a key bounce back win a week after falling short at home in a rivalry game against Michigan.
With redshirt freshman Rocky Lombardi earning the start under center, Michigan State (5-3, 3-2) managed just one touchdown in the first 58 minutes of play but more than quadrupled its total yards from a week ago -- albeit against a far lesser-ranked defense.
