LINCOLN, Neb. - Rocky Lombardi faced significant challenges in his first career road start.
There were blustery conditions that dropped the wind chill in the low-teens at Memorial Stadium, snow flurries late and several passes dropped.
However, the redshirt freshman quarterback brushed off those as reasons for Michigan State's 9-6 loss at Nebraska on Saturday afternoon.
"We had some opportunities early and late even," Lombardi said, "and we just didn't capitalize on them."

Lombardi played in place of redshirt junior Brian Lewerke, who has an injured right throwing shoulder, and said he was told Monday he would start.
