EAST LANSING - Three months ago, Rocky Lombardi was still a relative unknown.
Coming off a redshirt year as a true freshman, the Michigan State backup quarterback had never appeared in a game.
The Spartans (7-5, 5-4 Big Ten) are now done with the regular season and wait to learn their bowl destination to close out 2018. And Lombardi is no longer untested. He has appeared at quarterback in seven games, including three starts filling in for an injured Brian Lewerke.
"Football's football, whether you're a senior in high school or a senior in college," Lombardi said after last week's 14-10 win against Rutgers.
