Rexrode: MSU good when it's tight; will it be?

Lansing State Journal columnist Graham Couch and Detroit Free Press / LSJ MSU beat writer Joe Rexrode analyze the Spartans' 31-24 win Saturday night at Rutgers.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – If Michigan State and Michigan roughly approximate their respective levels of play through the first half of the season Saturday in Ann Arbor, the Wolverines will win by about 20 points.

It could be even rougher than that for the No. 7 Spartans (6-0, 2-0 Big Ten). That is, unless they can greatly increase their level of play. Which should be expected.
