Long-time Michigan State assistant football coach Harlon Barnett appears to be on Florida State’s radar.

According to USA Today’s Dan Wolken, Barnett and new Florida State head coach Willie Taggart have had “ongoing conversations” regarding the Seminoles’ defensive-coordinator position.

Barnett, 51, has been on Mark Dantonio’s staff for all 11 of his years at Michigan State, and he followed Dantonio from Cincinnati to Michigan State. Barnett has been the Spartans’ assistant head coach and co-defensive coordinator the last three seasons; prior to that, he coached defensive backs.

Barnett also has coached at Princeton (Ohio) High School and LSU, as a graduate assistant.
